Iranzo: ''We'll be eternally grateful to the teammates and the people of the town"
The player from Picanya talks on VCF Media Radio about his experience after the flash floodings that devastated the southern region of Valencia.
Vicent Cuxart's name will be forever associated with Valencia CF and the VCF Academy. A first team member in the 1980s, he later dedicated a long period of career after his playing days came to an end to working at the Ciudad Deportiva. He was responsible for caring for those in the halls of residence, taking care of their needs and looking after those staying away from home for the first time.
As announced at the PUMA Welcome Academy, the VCF Academy is honouring Cuxart, who died in April, with a plaque in his memory at the Ciudad Deportiva. It will be hung at one of the audiovisual rooms in the main building, closest to the residence.
“We always used to say to my father that he had two homes: Our house and the Ciudad Deportiva. He almost spent more hours at the Ciudad Deportiva,” explains his son Sergi Cuxart.
“My father had two children in my brother and I, but he treated those at the halls of residence the same as if they were his own children. He tried to instill in them the values that he showed, and that is the legacy he has left there."
“It makes me proud that there will be a tribute to him at the Ciudad Deportiva, where he spent so many hours. He will always be there in spirit, because it was a piece of his life. We are honoured that the club are displaying the plaque in a room that is going to be used by the children."
